The Fatal Inherencies

The title refers to the Seven Deadly Sins. It looks at our failings through the eyes of the Greek god Hephaestus who is the only immortal to live as a human and understand our “sins”. Like Hephaestus, you come to terms with your weaknesses.

Can you name the Seven Deadly Sins? You no doubt will be able to do so when you finish the last session of this Vantage Point course, The Fatal Inherencies! You also may look at these Sins in a completely different way at the same time. The Fatal Inherencies starts with an historical look at these inherencies—the way the early church looked at them, the way they affected the religious practices of those days. It then begins to discuss each one of the seven beginning with Pride which the course describes as leading us toward the other six. Listen to this quote: “Our contemporary ethos is a quest for self-gratification (ego gratification) that has refined the seven deadly sins into a way of life.”At this point in the course, you begin to see the “virtues” of the deadly ones, as the way toward consciousness, the way to a growing sense of ones true self. As one projects the sins onto others, then there comes a chance of withdrawing the projections and finding a way of transforming what has been repressed as being “bad” into a new awareness of self.
It is truly a fascinating, thoughtful course—it fills the mind with new ideas that won’t let you go.
